Our sanitarians protect the health of New Haven residents by inspecting body care facilities using guidelines laid out in Connecticut General Statutes Section 19a-231 and Public Act 19-117, Section 196(b). This applies to tattoo parlors, piercing parlors, hair salons and barber shops, massage parlors, nail salons, and other makeup and skin services like lashes, waxing, threading, and facials.
Salon, tattoo, and body care license applications and fees are due on July 1, 2025. To apply for a license, complete an application online with CitySquared. License fees are listed in the letters below.
Webinar recordings on the licensing and inspection process are available in English (passcode Y5Ds2^ec) and Español (passcode h1L^7Sne).
